The Robert Scarano designed twin buildings are located in the Burg, on 10th and 11th. Despite the institutional white exterior, the apartments in the north 10th building are actually pretty nice. I decided to take the tour, to see if the inside was nicer than the outside. Foot traffic was brisk, and around ten other couples came in within the hour. The enthusiastic broker proclaimed they are offering a 50k credit on 2br, and a 35k credit on 1br condos. Surprisingly, 40% of the 86 units are already in contract. Overall, finishes in the units were top notch, and definitely set the bar high for other upcoming buildings in the Burg. The floor plans had nice usable space unlike the cramped units in 349 Metropolitan Avenue. There is central air/heat, so there is no need for those space robbing stand alone units. High end appliances, recycled glass countertops, sleek bathroom vanities, and dark wood floors were the standout features. The amenities are the typical 24hour doorman, gym, billiards room, laundry, ect. After seeing the sick views from the roof, I was disappointed to learn the costs of these “cabanas”. Like most other buildings, they are charging a ludicrous 30k for 100 square feet of roof “cabana” space. The only good part of that deal is that it includes a stainless steel Webber grill, with gas/water hookup. Bottom line is the building is great, but I don’t think the $803 a square foot is going to fly so well these days.
